Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 11 Review

gebacondor

This episode’s Kajin is GebaCondor, a Shocker that is supposed to have the combined abilities of other Shocker Kajin. This does make him a slightly more formidable foe than the previous Kajin that Kamen Rider has faced in the past, but to be honest he’s simply stronger, can fly, and can turn invisible. This episode is the first of 3 in which the show’s producers are forced to: a)use stock footage of Hiroshi Fujioka as he was still bed-ridden at the time with injury and b)start utilizing the Rider Team a bit more.

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 10 Review

ritsuko

Normally I would introduce the villian for this episode, but since we’re dealing with a revived Cobraman here, I figured I would instead pin up the co-villain of this tale, Ritsuko, a Shocker mistress who uses the blood of animals and other means in order to revive Cobraman so he can once again try to get in on the Gold Reserve Bling-Bling. I almost feel this episode was put together to make up for the horribleness of Episode 9 (although to be fair Episodes 9-13’s filming took place when Hiroshi Fujioka’s leg was shattered during a motorcycle stunt.

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 9 Review

cobraman

This episode’s Kajin is Cobraman, who uses a two-part fangs system that can melt down any material into a foam-like substance. This particular episode isĀ forgettableĀ for the most part, as there are wild inconsistencies throughout that muck up the overall narrative and hurt the technical parts of the production.

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 8 Review

beewoman

This episode’s Kajin is the BeeWoman, the first female antagonist for Kamen Rider to face. At this point episodes of Kamen Rider are beginning to fall into a certain formula, something happens that affects a kid, Hongo gets called in to investigate, finds out Shocker is behind the trouble, somewhere Ruriko is kidnapped, and Hongo must transform into Kamen Rider to save the day. This episode works pretty well with tying in those central aspects while also keeping things pretty fresh.

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 7 Review

The Bad Guys for EP 7

Here, let's try that whole opening the box with the magnetic tape again, it'll so work this time.

Alright folks, let’s jump straight into this one. The wonderful folks at Shocker have trapped Hongo in a confined pit with no wind source to power Hongo’s Turbine Belt, forcing him to revert back into his normal state. With this episode, the arc concludes as Hongo and Shocker play a game of who can outsmart the other, which does lead into a bit of redundancy in the middle of the episode, but is redeemed in the final minutes with a well-choreographed fight between Kamen Rider and the Chameleon Man.

Proton Pack Build Update

Well there’s not going to be much with this update. I hurt my finger the other day and haven’t been able to press down very hard with it. I probably won’t have another update until next Friday, just to be sure it heals up enough to start working on the build again. I was able to get all of the pieces cut out for the Cosmetic Plating though. So until next Friday, stay tuned for some awesome reviews and news in the Tokusatsu world. ^_^

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 6 Review

Chameleon Man

The Kajin you are looking at here is Chameleon Man, who can blend into any environment and is actually pretty cunning to boot. This episode is the first of a 2-parter, in which Hongo must go forth and race against Shocker to obtain a box that contains the secrets of the Nazi Regime that can enable Shocker to conquer the world once and for all! This episode also will hold your interests in that Shocker finally discovers an inherent weakness to Kamen Rider, although it doesn’t count for too much in the end.

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 5 Review

mantisman

This episode’s Kajin is none other than Mantis Man, who tends to bounce around a lot and use a chain-link whip. To be honest though, he’s not the true enemy for Hongo to fight this time around, more like a nuisance that has to be dealt with. This episode is greatly deprived of kids and Ruriko manages to once again not be annoying (of course this doesn’t keep her from getting knocked out in a fight, but hey, it’s progress). The main thing to reflect on in this episode is how more of Hongo’s world is being corrupted by Shocker.

Proton Pack Build Update 3

This is going to be a short one. I was only able to finish one part this time. There were some problem areas on there, but I did the best I could with it. I’ll hopefully be able to fix some of the problem areas when I get to the resin stage. Anyway here’s the Gun Mount box!
