Kamen Rider Fourze Press Conference

Well, it looks like the initial reveal of Kamen Rider Fourze in action was shown today as Toei held their annual New Rider press conference. For those who have watched these before, you know the drill. You get to hear the transformation sounds,  followed by a badly choreographed fight on a stage, then an introduction of the main cast. Here, check it out for yourself.

The suit does look better in action than in the still photos that have been leaked out so far. I’m not sure what to think of the head design, for both Fourze and the character Gentarou Kisaragi. I almost expect dude to start breaking out songs from “Grease” when he’s not fighting with that hairdo, to be honest.

Kamen Rider Fourze starts in September, and we’ll be bringing reviews for every episode, so stay tuned!

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 4 Review

SarracenianThis episode’s baddie is the Sarracenian, a cannibalistic plant creature with no real speaking voice, just a really annoying squeal. This episode is full of annoyances, with Kamen Rider committing the sin of having a little tyke take center stage, with you, me, and everyone else getting dragged along for the ride.

My Assassin’s Creed II Hidden Blade Tutorial

I figured I would at least post something while I work on the crank generator for the proton pack. It has a lot of little curved pieces and I don’t want to screw it up when I cut it out and assemble it so I’m taking my time with it. I’ll get back to posting my progress with the proton pack once I get the crank generator finished. I may even be part way through or finished with the gun box mount assembly by my next post so look forward to that as well. ^_^

So moving on to today’s post, I wrote this tutorial a couple years back, but it should still be useful. This was the first build I did for one of my costumes and I was really proud of the final result. And they worked just like in the game! ^_^ Sorry for the blurry images. I had to use my phone back then, because I didn’t have any other camera. You should still get an idea of what it all should look like though. Anyway, on to the build! ^_^

Kamen Rider (1971) Episode 3 Review

The Kajin that you see here is Scorpion Man, Episode 3’s Villain for Hongo to deal with, who doesn’t really pack much as far as fighting prowess goes, but rather has a long-distance ability in which he summons scorpions with the ability to dissolve human physiology into liquified blood, which then itself evaporates (similar to the effects of the Spider Man from Episode 1). This particular episode is notable not only for particular camera techniques that highlight the actual fights against Shocker, but also the debut of the Rider Scissors Finishing Move.

Proton Pack Build: Day 1 and 2

Greetings and salutations! This is my first post here at the DTF page and I hope you look forward to more of my posts. I’m going to be covering my build of a Ghostbusters proton pack using pepakura.

First off, pepakura is a technique where you build a prop or armor out of heavy card stock paper, cover it in fiberglass and bondo, sand it smooth and use a detailing tool (like a Dremel), then finally paint it. You can get the files for this build at the GB Fans Forums. Also, for more ideas for armor making (mostly Halo armor, but others as well), you can visit the Pepakura section of the 405th Forums. You will need the free Pepakura Viewer program to view and print the parts.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the parts of the proton pack, here’s an image from GB Fans that has all of the parts of the pack named.

The proton pack and all of it's parts

Alright! Now that you know what parts are on the pack, lets see where I’m at with the build.

Kamen Rider (1971) Episodes 1 and 2 Review

The original Kamen Rider, the one that helped jumpstart the Toku scene, is not going to be for the tastes of the mass amount of Intarweb folks who latched onto Kamen Rider either through the Heisei shows subbed out by groups such as TV-Nihon or the latter-day adaptation Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, there are no pretty boys, the music is primarily jazz-centered, and there’s not really any fancy camera-work or digital post-processing techniques. To many this would probably be a death-knell, similar to the kids who really hate watching cinema flicks like Night and Day because it’s just not flashy enough and we’re all a bunch of hipsters who drink Pabst Blue Ribbon while exclaiming about how yes, we do agree Radiohead has just lost their touch and why can’t they make another OK Computer again? If you can sit back though and really start to approach the material while wiping the CG eyecandy from modern TV and Film off, one will find a tight narrative with very Impression-inspired scenes that are carried on the back of Hiroshi Fujioka.

Hello, and Welcome to DTF!

Hello peeps, and thank you for stopping by Dallas Toku Force! In a basic sense, DTF is about a few cats based here in the North Texas area who wish to wax esoteric on all things Tokusatsu from the East and the West, whether it be Show Reviews, Opinions, Cosplay, it’ll be covered a lot here.

Now I know a lot of peeps are probably wondering why cover stuff going on in the West when the word “Tokusatsu” is Japanese in nature and generally refers to shows like Kamen Rider, Ultra Series, and Super Sentai? Well, if you take a look, the word “Tokusatsu” refers to a Live-Action TV Series or Movie involving Superheroes and/or heavy use of Special Effects. In this case, we consider Doctor Who to be just as fair game as Gokaiger.

We do implore everyone to keep checking us out either here, Twitter, or on Facebook as we should always have daily content for you to peruse. Thank you all very much and let’s get cooking!
